RSDSS – Regional System of District and School Support
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), passed in 2015, requires all states to provide a statewide system of sustained support for districts and schools receiving Title I funding.
In California, this support structure is organized through the state's configuration of eleven regions by the RSDSS. Each region, under the leadership of a consortium of county superintendents, provides regional coordination and collaboration of services through the RSDSS office for regional Title I low-performing districts and schools to increase the opportunity for all students to meet the state's academic content standards.
The northwestern portion of the state, consisting of Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake and Sonoma counties, is the Region 1 area.
